Our honeymoon to Mauritius was simply breathtaking! Our most memorable experience was a walk on the seabed. One need not be an experienced diver or even know how to swim! We were taken to a cordoned area about 500m into the sea where we literally walked on the floor of the lagoon wearing a special helmet, connected and supplied with air from a boat on the surface. It's as though someone had plonked a glass fish bowl on our heads. We enjoyed a glorious view of the tropical fish and the coral reef. The fish surround you and daringly come close enough to nuzzle you, tempting you to touch them. Small catamarans took us out on day trips to other islands where we enjoyed relaxing beach barbecues, and submarine rides took us to the depths of the ocean to view its splendour. The Botanical Garden of Pamplemousses is home to many interesting and historic trees - some botanical treasures include the bleeding tree, which emits a gooey red residue that makes it seem as though it is bleeding. With golden sands that meet azure sky, Mauritius was an unforgettable experience and as memorable as honeymoons can be.
