We had an idyllic honeymoon in New Zealand. This amazing country has the unique distinction of offering mountains and glorious beaches side by side.
The north island is more cosmopolitan and offers exciting vistas such as Mt Manganui which overlooks the sea. Beautiful vineyards, wine-tasting expeditions, Wellington city and the sprawling Te Papa museum give one glimpses of New Zealand's rich past and sedate present.
A short ferry ride away is the south island, replete with Maori culture, hot springs, fairy penguins and scenic Queenstown.
Nearby is renowned Milford Sound, the venue of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. A very special experience awaits visitors at Whakerewarewa, the Maori welcome wherein a Maori warrior whoops spear in hand, tongue extended to show off his might to anybody approaching the village! A Maori concert and recreated village scenes make the visit complete. New Zealand with its natural beauty and friendly locals is a honeymooners' paradise. We would definitely recommend it.
